Born in Kilcootry, parish of Donacavey, County Tyrone, Ireland. Moved to Paisley during the "Hungry Forties", in the wake of the Irish Potato Famine. He and Jane had moved to Erskine, Renfrewshire by mid 1848. Then they moved their growing family to Dunbartonshire. Within Dunbartonshire they resided first at Cardross, then Bonhill and finally Alexandria, where George died in 1891 of influenza. They also had Jane (1848), Mary (1850) John (1/28,1855), Agnes (3/4/1857), James (3/1/1860) and Andrew(4/13/1862). | Born in Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, Ireland to John Smith and Jane Smith.
